Sometimes archiving the Lulz is serious business.

How you can help ED and prove your fealty

Posted: January 23rd, 2010 | Author: girlvinyl | Filed under: Serious Post | No Comments »

As you may know, Encyclopediadramatica is incredibly popular and generates massive, massive amounts of traffic. It’s controversial, uncensored and an amazing repository of internet history. In order to stay that way, we need a little help.

There are several ways that you can help ED:

Contribute a Donation Today
ED is not a site that mainstream advertisers like google and yahoo want to advertise on. In fact, we are barred from doing business with google adsense completely. In order to keep ED content open, free and uncensored, we accept donations. 100% of the money you give goes toward keeping the site up and running and paying costs like hosting fees, domain registrations and bandwidth charges. If you’re unable to donate, harass your friends to donate for you. Donations are accepted with credit card payments through Visa, Mastercard and American Express. All payments are guaranteed safe. The transaction is encrypted and your information is never, ever shared with anyone. Donate today to keep ED safe and legal!

If you’re more comfortable sending a donation via mail, you can mail it to us:

Encyclopediadramatica.com
PO BOX 20267
Kalamazoo, MI 49009

Please do not send cash, as it can get stolen. Check and money order should be made out to EDRAMA LLC. All US Post Offices can issue money orders at the counter, don’t send cash. If you must send cash, make sure it is well concealed. Remember, this is a risky way of donating, but we understand if it is your last resort.

Buy Some Tshirts
The ED shirt shop known as The Lollershop has some awesome tshirt designs available. You’ll find the most popular shirt, longcat as well as the Banhammer, Serious Business tie shirt and various Encyclopedia Dramatica designs too. You’ll also find girl shirts, hoodies and track jackets in addition to basic men’s or unisex tshirts in a large array of sizes. 100% of the proceeds from the lollershop go toward paying the bills for ED. It will also make your friends jealous when they see how good you look.

Purchase Some Ad Space
ED sells ad space on the sidebar of the site, check out this example to see them. You can purchase ads on ED for as little as $25 a day. ED has a reach of almost 1 million page views per day and is easily targeted toward a great demographic of young, technologically-inclined, dedicated users. You don’t have to be a business owner to purchase ads on ED, anyone can buy ad space and put up absolutely any graphic they want. You can:

  • Make fun of people
  • Link to an embarrassing picture
  • Call D-Malice fat
  • Promote your band
  • Ask for more facebook friends
  • Show people your latest troll

Go to ClickBangPop.com to buy ads on ED right away! Make all your dreams come true.

Get Involved With Whatport80
Whatport80 is a site that has completely Safe For Work content. That means you can share the links with your friends, family and co-workers without worrying about them seeing something horrific or having a seizure. The SFW nature of WP80 means you can browse it at work, school or home without worrying about who is lurking over your shoulder. This site helps ED by cataloging internet culture, events, sites and people in a way that can be preserved forever, without having to worry about being banned in Austrailia or other countries with strict internet laws. It’s a non-controversial way of preserving large amounts of ED content and making them accessible to anyone, anytime without fear of reprisal. We’re here to educate and ED will always remain uncensored, but allowing browsing for people who are under different circumstances is important too.

This is why we need to save ED

If ever there was one compelling reason to save ED, this is it:

The lulz are expensive, as are servers, ISP hosting, accountants and an army of lawyers. Please donate to ED to keep the lulz alive!

Hello! I have now added the ability for everyone to upload an avatar for the blog. Oh yay. Go to your user settings and edit the profile.

Let me remind you all of the other methods you have of keeping in touch with us:

  1. irc.encyclopediadramatica.com/encyclopediadramatica – IRC chat is a fast, useful way of getting up-to-the-moment coordination and information. If you’re an active editor, doing something non-trivial, get on irc fgt. This prevents misunderstandings like the rollback button, the block user button, and the carpet-the-user’s-talkpage-and-inbox-in-goreporn button.
  2. http://list.encyclopediadramatica.com – Mailman mailing list. This list is mainly for stuff directly related to the wiki. OT posting may be tolerated, but if a thread goes over a certain arbitrary threshold (there is actually a formula, but unless you know how much caffeine I’ve had, how long since I’ve gotten laid, and how my relationship with my girlfriend is going, you won’t have the important variables) then everyone who contributed tends to get banned. This has included sysops in the past. Bans to the list tend not to be retracted, ever.
  3. http://encyclopediadramatica.com/TJC – The Thizzlehat Junction Centre. This is largely a discussion page on-wiki. This page will be phased out over time due to archiving issues and because we think that this blog is going to be more suited to that sort of thing.
  4. http://encyclopediadramatica.com/ED:Map – ED Map. This is only really useful if you have a burning need to be the victim of an aggravated sexual assault. If you would like to commit an aggravated sexual assault, the Map is unlikely to be useful. This is due to the fact that 90% of our editors appear to be 16/m/basement and covered in pizza grease. Honestly, meeting people you know from the internet is likely to be a bad idea in general.

Don’t, in general, email Sysops or Bureaucrats with requests. If you have a request, put it to the mailing list (item 2.) Note that all legal complaints and threats must be directed only to legal@encyclopediadramatica.com.

I honestly have no idea how long this blog was hacked for. Coulda been months, nobody would have noticed.

Anyway, we’re (probably means I’m) actually going to start posting here again, to give the userbase and interested parties an idea of what’s going on with policy, current events and related topics.

As you should all know by now, the wiki is upgraded and fully operational. Lots of new web 2.0 rubbish – if that’s what you’re into. I suppose it’s good to make it as easy as possible for people to link to our content etc as possible – read these links before doing so, though.

Oh what merry pranksters you are, userbase. Keep on keeping on.

Be advised that the page load stats specialpages are not operational due to high resource usage. This has also been implemented by inferior wikis running this variant of MW, which is a classic case of SNAFU. Always good to see what they’ll fuck up with next version.

Apparently we were super haxed by some Turkish 5th graders. The blog has been upgraded and I even added a new wordpress theme. All previous user accounts have been deleted, so if you’d like to comment, you’ll need to make another account.
